CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A local business is hosting a unique, family-friendly event for local musicians to test out some music gear.

It starts at 6 p.m. this Saturday at The N A S A, 1613 Agnes St. Corpus Christi, Texas 78401.

"This will be a fun family oriented event that will cater to the local musicians here in town," its event page says.

The highlight of the event will be a live drum kit set-up for people to play while guests bring their guitars to test the effects pedals made in Corpus Christi by Frost Giant Electronics.

"The event is for anyone that wants to hang out, meet some local musicians and try out some Fuzz/Distortion/OD pedals meant for everything from Hendrix, Psychedelic, to full blown Thrash Metal and Doom Metal." said Frost Giant Electronics owner and founder Eric Calvert.

Frost Giant Electronics has been building guitar-effects pedals since 2017.

"After years of modding (sic) and studying Rat (sic) pedals and other fuzz's (sic), we decided to fully dedicate ourselves to making the heaviest, and at times the nastiest, fully musical fuzz's (sic) out there," saidCalvert.

Calvert is also a member of local band Switchblade Jesus and has been tampering with musical electronics from a young age.

"My father is a musician and builder of things, so as a kid I always had a guitar and took apart my remote control cars and things to see how they worked," Calvert said, "At one point I had to fix my own pedals, as money was tight, and from there, it became what it is today. But since a kid I've always been playing music and building something, pedals happened as a necessity then turned into what it is now."

After this event Calvert will take some of his pedals to showcase at the National Association of Music Merchants show in California.
