CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A national program spearheaded by fashion accessories designer Kendra Scott brought a glimmer of hope to patients at Driscoll Children's Hospital today.

The "Kendra Cares" program offered pediatric patients and their families an opportunity to create a custom piece of jewelry.

Nearly 20 kids were able to leave their hospital rooms to participate in the event.

Many young patients decided to share their creations with loved ones.

"I am going to give this to my grandma since my birthstone is emerald for May,” patient Chloe Rodriguez said. “When I give it to her - you know - when she looks at it, she'll think of me."

The fun was presented by the Stripes Child Life program at Driscoll Children's Hospital.
