It’s been a little more than a year since Hurricane Harvey made landfall on the Texas Gulf Coast. Some of the hardest-hit areas were Rockport-Fulton, Aransas Pass, Ingleside and Port Aransas on Mustang Island.

The Coastal Bend United, comprised of six area Chambers of Commerce, are chipping in to help neighboring local businesses who are still recovering following Hurricane Harvey’s devastation, with a “Back To Business” Recovery Concert.

For decades, these small towns have been a popular destination for people looking for a weekend beach or fishing getaway.

But thanks to Hurricane Harvey, many local businesses are still feeling the impact of the Category 4 storm.  All Port Aransas businesses were damaged and a year later, they are still working hard to try to get back on their feet.

The Coastal Bend United is pleased to present “Back To Business” Recovery Concert on Friday and Saturday with a carnival Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The Coastal Bend United is comprised of six  area Chambers; Aransas Pass Chamber of Commerce, Ingleside Chamber of Commerce, Port Aransas Chamber of Commerce, Portland Chamber of Commerce, Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce and the United Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce. The groups are working together to bring this event to the Coastal Bend.

The Coastal Bend United “Back to Business” Recovery Concert will take place in the parking lot of  Whataburger Field in Corpus Christi.

Live entertainment begins at 6 p.m. Friday with the Rotel & the Hot Tomatoes. The Last Bandoleros will perform at 8 p.m. and Derek Spence’s  “A George Strait Tribute Band” will be the final act at 10 p.m.

Saturday’s live entertainment begins at 6 p.m. with Marcos Orosco Y Extremo. Los Palominos will perform at 8 p.m. and La Mafia at 10 p.m.

Included in the event is Food Truck Alley. Attendees will have a variety of food choices from some of the finest food trucks in the area along with an area for vendors.

Special commemorative T-shirts will be available for purchase.

Ticket proceeds from the recovery concert will return to area communities. It will take years before many of the small businesses get back to providing the goods and services that people have come to know and love. But they remain confident they are on the right course restoring their area back bigger, better and stronger than ever before.
