You are invited to a not-so-traditional baby shower this evening.

Local radio personality CoCo Olinger from K99 Country is on a mission to help local moms in need.

After a six year journey of infertility, including a miscarriage, CoCo is pregnant with twins, and has decided that she will throw a community baby shower and donate all items to the Metro Ministries Rainbow House, which provides housing for women and children.

“It was the perfect match, Metro Ministries’ Rainbow babies, that’s what you call your babies after the storm, after a miscarriage, is your rainbow babies, and I’m getting two,” Olinger said.

The Rainbow House has the ability to house 60 women and children and organizers say the center is almost always full. The average age of a person staying there is just 7-years-old.

To help mothers in their time of need, CoCo is encouraging everyone to donate baby items.

She says she already has her miracle, but others are still waiting for theirs.

“They also need to know that they’re supported, and maybe the miracle is Metro Ministries and Rainbow House for so many families,” says CoCo.

People are encouraged to bring diapers of all sizes, pull-ups, baby wipes or a cash donation.

The baby shower will be at the center court at La Palmera Mall from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tonight.
