Thanksgiving Day is only two weeks away.
Several traditional events of Thanksgiving are approaching across the Coastal Bend.
One of the most popular will happen next weekend.
Attorney Thomas J. Henry and his staff will be giving away thousands of turkeys to area families across South Texas.
This year's event will be a drive-thru giveaway.
And instead of being held at their office, folks will head to the Richard Borchard Fairgrounds in Robstown.
Additional events will also be held in Alice, San Diego and Freer. All will be taking place next Saturday, Nov. 21.
And locally, the 77th annual Joe Salem Dinner is still on, but with some changes this year.
Lisa Saenz, the dinner’s coordinator, tells us it will be a drive-thru event this year due to the pandemic.
The meal and the hours will remain the same. You can pick up your dinner between noon and 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.
You can start getting in line outside Sokol Hall on Kostoryz starting at 11 a.m. that morning.
And changes will be in place at this year's Fall Feast in Aransas Pass.
The annual community Thanksgiving Dinner will be a drive-thru event this year because of the pandemic.
All Aransas Pass residents are invited next Thursday, Nov. 19.
It's slated to start at 4 p.m. at the Civic Center.
