CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A brand new year means brand new local events around the Coastal Bend. As usual, we have compiled a list of fun going on this weekend.

<big> FRIDAY </big>

<big> Dollar day at the Art Museum of South Texas</big>

The first Friday of every month is Frost First Friday Dollar Day at the Art Museum of South Texas.

This Friday is a great time to enjoy artwork and scenic views of the Corpus Christi bay.

The $1 admission lasts Friday only, Jan. 2. The museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m..

Current exhibitions include "Jennifer Ling Datchuk: Making Women" and "Greg Reuter: The Studio," among other exhibits.

<big> Storytellers invited to share at 'Verbal Ink' every first Friday </big>

A unique local event invites local to tell stories and possibly win some cash.

"Verbal Ink delivers five performances from storytellers who write a story around a theme," their website says.

The first Verbal Ink event of the year takes place this Friday, Jan 3, at the Art Museum of South Texas.

The story telling starts at 7:30 p.m., and the theme is courage.

The lineup of story tellers this Friday includes, Berto Garcia, Yolanda Lopes-Borja, Omar Lopez, Michelle Grismer, and Stefan Sencerz.

<big>First Artwalk of the decade is this Friday </big>

2020 is here to stay. At least for this year. Artwalk is also here to stay.

The first official Artwalk of the new decade is Jan. 3, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m..

The festivities are centered around Artesian Park downtown.

A long standing tradition in the Coastal Bend, Artwalk is meant to bring the creatives of the Coastal Bend together for some fun.

"It's where Downtown comes alive with music, art vendors, food trucks serving up South Texas fare, and art galleries featuring local and national artists," the Artwalk website says.
