3rd grader from St. Pius X Elementary wins national writing contest

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A 3rd grader from St. Pius X Elementary has won a national writing contest.

Mandalyn Puebla, was the 3rd grade winner of the 2019 Education.com Limitless Learners Contest.

The contest, which was open to students throughout the United States, required students to submit a short story, journal entry, or comic strip about a time you had so much fun that your forgot you were learning.

Mandalyn wrote her story, entitled "Sink or Float," about a time her and a friend were experimenting with bouyancy in her class.

Mandalyn's winnings are invaluable. She has won a $500 scholarship to go towards college, earned her school $1,000, and one of her teachers gets a lifetime membership to Education.com.
