Eric Hamon has been named the new President and Chief Executive Officer of Driscoll Health System. He has served as Interim President and CEO since April 2018.

Hamon has been a key member of the Driscoll team for more than 25 years and served as Driscoll Health System’s Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer since 2007.

Driscoll’s Board retained the executive recruiting firm of Heidrick & Struggles to conduct a nationwide search of internal and external candidates to find the very best candidate to lead Driscoll into the future.

“On behalf of the Driscoll Health System Board of Directors, I am honored to announce the appointment of Eric Hamon as our President and CEO,” said Sam L. Susser, Chair of the Driscoll Children’s Hospital Board of Directors.

“Our Board has worked closely with Eric and we are impressed with his leadership, solid healthcare knowledge and his compassionate desire to help the children of South Texas.

Eric is known for his contributions toward building Driscoll’s Health Insurance Plan and integrated healthcare system, his financial expertise, and his ability to work with diverse stakeholders, including State and Federal health care governmental leaders.

Eric has been instrumental in leading the development and implementation of Driscoll’s five-year strategic plan, with the focus on bringing more care to more children throughout South Texas.”

As Executive Vice President, Hamon’s scope of responsibility included the Driscoll Health Plan, the 501a Physician Groups, Clinical Operations, Finance, Human Resources and all operations of the Driscoll Foundation.

Hamon received an MBA from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, and a BBA in Accounting from Texas A&M University-College Station.  Prior to joining Driscoll, Mr. Hamon worked for KPMG.

“I am honored to be selected to serve as Driscoll Health System’s President and Chief Executive Officer,” said Hamon. “During the past six months I’ve had the opportunity to work in this role on an interim basis, and I have been humbled by the amount of support I have received from so many people, both internally and externally.

Having been a part of the Driscoll team for more than 25 years, I know what our organization means for South Texas children and their families and I respect the sacred trust South Texas has placed in our 2,500 team members. I look forward to continuing working with our physicians, leadership, employees, and volunteers as well as leaders throughout the State of Texas as we bring more care to more kids.”

Hamon and his wife, D’Ann, live in the Portland, Texas, area with their sons Blane & Sage.
