A few months ago KRIS 6 News told you about a project a few local mom’s are trying to get started. Over three years of fundraising and gathering donations from the community and sponsors, these mom’s, Jen Seymour and Madelyn Garner, were able to raise just under $75,000 for a new playground at Billish Park.

The new playground will consist of a big slide, rope ladder and different climbing elements. A donation from BMW of Corpus Christi also gives Billish Park a toddler playground structure for ages 2-5.

“2 through 5 structure is going to focus on children’s development. Things that make sound, and moving objects, and ABC’s,” says Seymour.

They hope to get this playground built in the next week, the community build will begin August 1st.

“Anyone of any skill can come we’ll find something for them to do, if you do have skills in construction or any experience in that on a higher level they can bring um, socket set, open wrench sets, and um we’ll put everybody to work.” In order to be a part of the community build, volunteers must sign up through this website, to show which days they can be available.

There will also be a ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday, August 18th, equipped with food and of course fun for the kids, BMW will also provide cars to test drive during the ceremony.
