Coastal Bend youth got a chance to learn some basketball skills from a pro on Saturday.
San Antonio Spurs guard Danny Green made his way to Corpus Christi for his annual basketball skills camp. The two-day camp aimed to teach local kids a few drills, skills and techniques.
About 70 girls and boys aged 8-15 gathered at Incarnate Word Academy for day one of the two-day camp from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
"They’re learning to dribble," Green said, as participants practiced behind him. "They’re learning to pass, shoot. And obviously, defense is a very key importance to the game. Even though they don’t want to learn it. But outside of those fundamentals, we try to incorporate some games where they can win some prizes and gifts."
Green has been leading local youth camps for several years now, this one a two-day clinic that continues Sunday.
