Since at least 1961, the Corpus Christi Women’s Golf Association has been the driving force behind the City Championship. If recent history is any indication, this year’s effort should be exciting!

The Match Play format tournament will be held at the Lozano Golf Center (4401 Old Brownsville Road) June 7th through 9th, with a progressive start time beginning at 8:30 AM.

The entry fee is $90 for the Championship Division (entrants with a handicap of 0-12), $65 for the Open Division (handicap of 13+) and Seniors (ages 70 and up), and $15 for Juniors (ages 13 to 17). It includes green fees and a Saturday awards luncheon. Prizes will also be given away.

The tournament is open to all female golfers who are at least 18 years of age and reside within 10-miles of Corpus Christi, holding an established USGA handicap. Caddies are not allowed.

For additional details, contact Jean Shivers by phone at (361) 853-5800 or through email at jean.m.shivers@gmail.com.

The entry deadline is May 31st.

The CCWGA consists of a Governing Board made up of two representatives appointed from each Women’s Golf Association, either in the city or within a 10 mile radius. This includes the Corpus Christi Country Club, Oso Beach Municipal Golf Course, Gabe Lozano Golf Center, River Hills Country Club and Padre Isles Golf Association. The Northshore Country Club in Portland is also an active member of this organization.

Membership in the organization stands at approximately 50 golfers, and is open to others who might like to join.
