History Harvest seeking items for Bell Library archives

Posted

It may be time to rummage through the attic or pull down those shoe boxes of old photographs you have been saving. There is a group who needs your help in gathering items, as they work to preserve our Coastal Bend History.

South Texas: iRemember of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is hosting its first-ever History Harvest on Friday, June 8th from 3:00 to 5:00 PM and Saturday, June 9th from 10:00 AM to Noon at the Art Museum of South Texas (1902 N. Shoreline Blvd.), Meadows Gallery (3rd floor).

The History Harvest is free and open to all resident of the Coastal Bend, with the goal of celebrating and preserving family history, stories and memorabilia, and making these items available to the public, students and scholars.

Hoped-for items include letters, photographs, videos, audio files and other documents.

Archivists from the Mary and Jeff Bell Library at A&M-Corpus Christi will learn more about the materials to assess how well they match the archives’ collecting scope. When materials are a good match, the owner will have an opportunity to support TAMU-CC’s efforts to strengthen the documentation of our community history by choosing to sign a deed of gift transferring the materials to the archives.

Donors will be provided with digital copies of the materials they donate.
