CORPUS CHRISTI, TX — If you've received a call from the city recently saying you owe money for utilities -- even from months ago - it's likely not a scam.
City officials tell us they are personally calling customers who have outstanding utility bills.
We received a call from a viewer who says she got a call from the city stating she had unpaid utility bills dating all the way back to early 2018.
She says she paid those bills, but was told it's now her responsibility to sift through bank statements to provide proof.
The woman believes the city should have a more efficient record-keeping system.
Today, we’ll look into this issue and hope to speak with the city about how customers can resolve these issues and dispute these overdue bills.
