ARANSAS COUNTY, Texas — Charleigh Nelson's family will be leaving the Coastal Bend soon.

But before they go, the family of the little 2-year-old girl who passed away after falling into a septic tank at an area RV park Wednesday night, wanted to express their gratitude to people here for their kindness and support during their recent tragedy.

Here is a note that Charleigh's father, Ethan Nelson, shared with KRIS 6 Anchor/Reporter Paulo Salazar in the family's first response since the tragic accident.

"Paulo, we will be leaving Texas today and wanted to give a brief thank you to you and your staff and everyone who helped us during this trying time.

"The amount of love, support and prayers from this community have been incredible. We aren't even from this area and have been embraced by so many people that we have never met. We are amazed by the number of people that God has put in our lives to get us thru this time of suffering.

"We just ask that everyone please continue to pray for our family, our church family, our community back home and this new community that we will always be connected to.

"To our neighbors from the RV park and the first responders, we will forever be grateful for everything that you did for us on that terrible night. Words can't express the amount of love and appreciation that we have for each one of you.

"We are clinging to our faith in the Lord to get us thru this time. Please, continue to pray for us and share pictures of our beautiful little Charleigh."
