CCPD: Arrest made in Elgin Street double homicide case

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS — Corpus Christi police have announced they have arrested in connection to the bodies of two men who were found dead on Elgin Street.

Investigators say on Thursday, December 5, 2019, officers were dispatched to 1200 block of Elgin Street about two bodies inside a home.

The bodies were identified as Daniel Garza, 26, and George Soto, 25. Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division responded and quickly Identified Jose Luis Ramirez as a possible suspect.

Police discovered he had several active warrants for his arrest. Ramirez was arrested Friday, December 6th, by the United States Marshal Service and the Corpus Christi Gang Unit for three unrelated warrants for his arrest.

Ramirez was additionally charged with Theft of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.

Investigators continued following up on the Capital Murder case that occurred on Elgin Street.

On Monday, December 9th, the detectives were able to secure a Capital Murder warrant against Ramirez.

Ramirez currently is behind bars over at the Nueces County Jail. His bond was set at $1,000,000.00.
