CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS — Corpus Christi police have arrested two people after a standoff ended Friday afternoon.

According to police, officers were called to the location for a disturbance around 3 p.m. Friday.

As officers were coming to a group of apartments located in the 1900 block of 16th Street off of Staples Street, police received reports of a possible hostage situation was developing.

Officers closed off parts of 16th Street as other first responders evacuated nearby apartment residents.

Captain William Broyles with CCPD said Corpus Christi SWAT officers arrived at the scene and began to talk to a man and a woman. SWAT officers learned the situation was not a hostage situation. Afterward, both surrendered to the police at the scene.

Captain Broyles said a 33-year-old man would be charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Police also said they arrested a 29-year-old woman who had an outstanding warrant for her arrest.
