Bodies found on beach identified as missing couple

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS — Investigators with the Kleberg County Sheriff's Department has identified two bodies that were discovered Sunday evening are that of a missing couple from New Hampshire.

According to a news release, the decedents have been positively identified as James Lawrence Butler and Michell Elaine Butler.

The Butlers were reported missing on Oct. 23, 2019, after family and friends lost contact with them.

Their bodies were discovered Sunday evening after a Kleberg County Deputy found what appeared to be human remains at Beach Marker 263.

The site was secured, and the remains were transported to the Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office.

Investigators ruled their cause of death as a homicide.

Meanwhile, an investigation continues to identify people of interest connected to their death and the whereabouts of the victim's truck and RV trailer.
