GREGORY, Texas — Just because there is a stay at home order in effect right now, doesn't mean that people don't have dirty clothes, and some people need a place to go to them cleaned.
Luckily for residents in Gregory, the Wildcat Coin Laundry off State Highway 181 is doing their very best to clean customers' clothes while keeping them safe.
"Social distancing is so important right now," Wildcat owner Rick James said.
The laundry service opened in February and has a drive-thru service. That service has become more important than ever in recent weeks.
"They can drive through and drop off their clothes without having to interact with anybody," James said.
How exactly does the contactless service work?
When a customer drives through, two employees armed with masks, gloves and Lysol work together to get the laundry out of the backseat while the other takes the customer's information.
The customer can return when they get a call from the store.
They also have lockers for people to drop their dirty clothes in as well. Plenty of people in the area work into the early morning and are able to drop their clothes off. The store then will have them washed first thing the next morning.
"It is really convenient," customer Sean Blackwell said.
The store has gone above and beyond to make sure those who cannot leave their homes are getting the service they need.
"We are offering a free delivery and pickup service for elderly and handicapped customers," James said.
For those who are still looking to do their laundry the old fashioned way, the store still offers customers to come inside and do their laundry. And they are making sure the area is squeaky clean.
"We're sanitizing early in the morning, we are sanitizing in the evening and we are sanitizing throughout the day," James said.
The store is open from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
