CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Today's "We're open report" takes us to a popular west-side eatery where the food is made by products purchased right here in Corpus Christi.

We are at the corner of Agnes and Old Robstown Road, in front of a building that has been the site of several restaurants since the 1970's. Now its the home of Gordo's American Eats. They are local and specialize in buying local.

Co-owner of Gordo's American Eats Manny Gutierrez says,"Just about anything that comes into this restaurant is used with the dollars we are making here, we put it right back in the community."

Manny and Ashley Gutierrez own Gordo's American Eats and believe in giving right back to their community.

"A lot of these local stores live in town too so they depend on that money to stay in town so they can keep themselves going too. In essence, we are doing each other a favor by keeping that money going and keeps it circulating in this community," said Manny.

This is almost an around the clock business because they remain open from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week.

They specialize in hand-pressed, homemade old fashioned style burgers.

A half-pound of pure burger heaven and if you want one or anything else on the menu, they will have it delivered.

"We will deliver anywhere in town absolutely free. It can be one or ten orders. We can bring them anything that we are serving up whether it be our daily specials or one of our old favorites, we will deliver for them," said Manny.

Their drive-up service is also available seven days a week starting at 5 a.m..
