CORPUS CHRISTI — Hot and steamy weather for the short term but all eyes on the Gulf for the coming weekend.
High pressure will keep out temperatures in the mid to upper 90 through the week.
However, the area of low pressure is still expected to drop into the Gulf from Georgia. Once in the Gulf, the system is forecast to strengthen into a tropical depression.
There is slight chance it could become a tropical storm by Saturday. Current forecast brings it into the Houston area on Sunday morning with significant rain.
The Coastal Bend will be on the back side of the system so our rain on Sunday will be moderate, less than 1 inch.
