CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Upper level high pressure has left the area and this has finally opened the tropical door from the Gulf.

Badly needed rainfall will still be hard to come by but will gradually increase over the next several days.

Tonight expect fair skies with light winds late and a low of 76.

Thursday will be mostly sunny but generally light winds humid and still hot with only a stray shower and a high of 97.

Thursday night expect mainly clear skies a light breeze warm and sticky and a low of 77.

Friday expect a mix of clouds and sunshine hot and more humid with an isolated shower and a high of 95.

Tropical storm Chantal in the North Atlantic is no threat to land.
