CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — We've made it to the middle of Thanksgiving Week and our temperatures have been on the warm side. In some instance up to 10-15 degrees above seasonal average.
Today we'll be monitoring a weak frontal boundary that will usher in some slightly drier air into South Texas, turning our winds more northeasterly around 7-14 mph. This will be a drastic decrease from yesterday's howling winds that topped out near 40 mph in many locations. We'll hold on to a good mix of clouds and sun with a high of 83.
Tonight, clouds will increase again, but temperatures will be a tad cooler on Thanksgiving morning with a low of 61 in Corpus Christi. Inland parts of the region will fall into the middle to upper 50s.
Thanksgiving Day looks nice with a steady southeasterly breeze around 10-15 mph, partly cloudy skies and a high of 84.
Friday will be a transition day as we continue to monitor a strong cold front that is currently pushing into the Pacific Northwest. We'll still manage a warm high prior to the front's arrival.
However, showers will be on the increase ahead of the boundary. Scattered showers and thundershowers will begin by the late afternoon and continue through much of Saturday.
Once we get the initial north wind, temperatures will start to drop rapidly as we may struggle to get into the 60s on Saturday with lots of cloud coverage and a soggy day in store.
Forecast models have been increasing rainfall amounts in the area and now we could see average rainfall amounts of an inch to 1 1/2 inches for some locations.
By Sunday, the upper-level storm system associated with the front will move east and usher in more cold air. Going into next week, highs will be in the mid to low 60s and overnight lows will drop into the upper 30s to low 40s.
