Another cool down on the way

This weekend was very nice with plenty of sunshine, but the temperatures were a little bit above seasonal average in the lower 80s.

There is a weak front to our north that is running out of  gas, but another reinforcing front is right behind that one and will push all the way through the Coastal Bend overnight and early tomorrow.

So for tonight, temperatures will still be on the cool side in the mid-50s with light northerly winds and clear skies.

Monday will be a close repeat of today with sunny skies.  Temperatures will be a bit cooler and nearly seasonal average with a high of 73 and north-northeasterly winds around 10-15MPH.

The cooler air associated with the front arriving overnight will take some time to filter down into South Texas and we’ll start to feel it by early Tuesday morning as temperatures drop into the 40s.  Tuesday and Wednesday will still feature mainly sunny skies and beautiful conditions, but highs will come down into the 60s.

A large upper-level disturbance will start moving closer to South Texas from the west.  This will start to increase cloud coverage here on Thursday, along with winds, and milder temps in the 70s.  By Friday, it will move through South-Central Texas and bring our best chance of some rain and thunderstorms in a few weeks.  Rain chances at this point appear to be much high up around San Antonio, but depending on the track the disturbance takes will dictate how much rain we could receive.  If it moves farther north, our rain chances will fall, further south means more rain.  For now,  we’ll put scattered to numerous showers for Friday with better chances for our northern counties.

Another strong cold front will move through early Saturday morning and kick the moisture and disturbance to the east and we’ll clear out and colder temps will filter back into South Texas.  Highs on Sunday will struggle to get out of the 50s.

We’ll continue to monitor and update the forecast as necessary.

Have a great week!
