Moisture is streaming in from the Gulf of Mexico and off a tap from the Pacific that is riding over Mexico and lending to showers activity off to our west and north.

With that in mind, we are going to hold on to isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers in the forecast today and into Tuesday.  Highs will reach the upper 80s.  This afternoon winds will be a bit on the breezy side around 15-25MPH out of the southeast.

A Coastal Flood Advisory and Small Craft Advisories have been posted from Rockport down to Baffin Bay.  Boaters, mariners and beach-goers are urged to use caution in the bays and offshore waters for the next several days.  Rip currents risks will also be elevated.  These are indirect results of newly upgraded Hurricane Michael in the Caribbean.

Hurricane Michael, the 13th named storm of the hurricane season, currently has sustained winds of 75MPH and looks to aim at the Florida Panhandle.  It is forecast to strengthen into a category 3 storm and bring damaging winds and several inches of rain by early Wednesday morning for those residents in the path.

Back here at home, we’ll be keeping an eye on a weak front that will push into South Texas early Wednesday morning with a round of scattered thundershowers.  Once it passes it will bring slightly cooler and drier air with highs near seasonal average in the middle 80s.

Sunny and pleasant conditions will follow for Thursday and Friday.  For now, looks like another front will arrive early Sunday morning with some rain and another dose of cool and dry air.  We’ll be monitoring that closely this week.
