CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — KRIS Communications will be telecasting the Miller/San Antonio Southwest playoff game Thursday night from the Alamodome.

The Bucs are coming off a big scare from Brownsville Pace, holding off the Vikings, 28-21, on a rainy and cold night at Buc Stadium last Thursday in another game we broadcast live.

More history will be made this week because the Bucs will be playing in the Alamodome in San Antonio.

They have a chance to become the first Miller football team to go 12-0.

And for many of these young men, they have learned so many of life lessons that football has to offer.

And I guarantee you, they won’t take anything for granted Thursday night.

“I think it really humbled us as a team because we thought we were going to whip those boys and they came out ready to play,” Miller offensive lineman Austin Leavell said.

Miller coach Justen Evans said the narrow victory taught his team some valuable lessons as its season continues.

“That process started in the off season,” Evans said. “These kids have gone through a lot of adversity on and off the field.

“This game of football is so strategic and what it does because it teaches you so much more about life than the game of football itself. Our kids have been able to take the highs and lows with what has gone on this season and we are just thankful that it's been more highs and we hope to keep that trend going.”

It should be a lot of fun against a Dragons team that has really come on lately.

Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in a special playoff edition of Thomas J. Henry’s Gamenight South Texas on KDF-TV.

Thursday’s game will be only the start of an exciting weekend.
