CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Speaking of high school football, it’s time to announce this week's winner of our Friday Nght Fever Gamechanger Award.

As always, there are lots of great choices.

But the winner came from Friday’s game between Veterans Memorial and Ray at Cabaniss Field.

Due to injuries, both teams playing with backup quarterbacks.

It turns out that both of those quarterbacks would get injured, too, and have to leave the game.

So on the Vets side, they brought in Jacob Hernandez.in the second quarter with the game scoreless. He immediately sparked the Eagles’ offense by completing 15 of 19 passes for 193 yards and a touchdown.

He also rushed for two touchdowns.

Hernandez was definitely a gamechanger for the Eagles, leading them to a 29-0 triumph.

And by the way, Cody Piper came in and did a great job running the Wildcat for the Eagles, playing a big role in their victory.

But it’s Jacob Hernandez who takes home our Friday Night Fever Gamechanger Award for this week.
