CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — It has become one of the most polarizing stories in all of sports. The fallout from the Houston Astros' cheating scandal and the punishment that followed has left sports fans all over the country angry.
But some Astros fans here in the Coastal Bend say they will be sticking by their team.
"I don't like what they did," Astros fan Joe DeSantos said. "But I am an Astros fan. I will forgive them."
And that is the sentiment for fans we talked to. They are willing to forgive, and even go as far to place blame somewhere else, not on their beloved Houston Astros.
"If your signs are that easy to figure out, then you could just tell them what you are about to pitch," Bryan Jacobsen said.
And of course there are sports fans on the opposite end of the spectrum, fans who say what the Astros did was unacceptable.
"If you cheat in professional sports, what is the sense?" Ted Ricci said.
It has become a topic rehashed. And as the season approaches will Astros fans continue to wave the flag, wear the colors and support the team?
"I am going to buy a shirt right now," Jacobsen said.
And will they support the team even after all of this? Most are saying yes they will.
"I am an Astros fan and will be for life," DeSantos said.
The Astros' first game of the 2020 season will be March 26 when they host the Los Angeles Angels.
