Refugio baseball star Jared Kelley has added a gold medal to his resume.

Kelley has been in Panama for the U-18 Pan Am Baseball Championship after making the USA Baseball national roster last month. Team USA won the championship game against Panama, 17-2, Sunday night to bring home the gold.

This is Team USA’s fifth consecutive gold medal in the championships.

The U.S.A. squad was dominant offensively throughout the tournament, outscoring its opponents 131-27 in nine games.

Kelly, pitching against Nicaragua on Saturday, struck out two in four relief innings.

“I’m really proud of the way we played. We did all of the things we needed to do to win,” USA Baseball 18U National manager Jack Leggett said. “We pitched extremely well and had timely hits. We really swung the bats as well as I have ever seen.”

According to perfectgame.org, Kelley has committed to play baseball at TCU after graduation.
