Versatile Veterans Memorial quarterback David Soto had quite a week to power the Eagles to another round in the playoffs and claim this week’s Mike Shaw Toyota Gamebreaker of the Week.
Soto rushed for 139 yards on 11 carries and scored three touchdowns. He also completed 8 of 9 passes for 149 yards and another score to lead Vets to a runaway 44-14 victory over Brownsville Veterans last Thursday at Buc Stadium.
All this helped the 11-0 Eagles advance in the playoffs. Their next game will be at 1 p.m. Friday against San Antonio Harlan.
Veterans will meet the San Antonio school which is in its first year of fielding a football team.
For all of his efforts last week, Soto takes home this week’s Mike Shaw Gamechanger Award.
