CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — What better place to honor veterans of our armed forces than at a school named after veterans?

Veterans Memorial High School invited local veterans and their families to join them for a tribute in their honor.

Because of its name, veterans say the high school has a unique understanding of the role vets play in our community.

“This is the greatest place on earth, it's just a wonderful place, these young people know that they have a special school.” U.S. Army veteran Bill Sheka said.

The Veterans Day celebration featured a performance by the school's choir and orchestra.

There was also a slide show to commemorate veterans with ties to the school.

In addition, students there put together a Veteran’s Day video tribute.
