AUSTIN -- — A chance for a higher education is now a reality for students from low-income families.
Thanks to a new endowment, low-income students throughout the state can now attend the University of Texas without paying tuition.
On Tuesday, the university's Board of Regents unanimously voted to set aside $160 million for financial assistance.
Families that make less than $65,000 a year are eligible to receive the aid beginning in 2020.
The goal is to make higher education a possibility for students who can't afford it.
