Licensing requirements for Texas barbers and cosmetologists will remain in place after a Plano lawmaker hears more from professional in the industry.
State Representative Matt Shaheen now says he’ll be removing that language from his proposed legislation.
Shaheen says he made the decision after listening to concerns from several cosmetologists and barbers.
He says his intent was to remove some of the regulatory barriers for people looking for work in the field.
Shaheen says he still plans to move forward with legislation to conduct a study about the licenses involved.
