SAN ANTONIO – Many superheroes joined forces this weekend — even if they weren’t there to save the day.
Who says heroes and villains have to be on the big screen or in comic books? They can appear in person, as they did at 2018 Celebrity Fanfest at J.W. Marriott Hotel.

Fans from across Texas experienced tons of “star power” as they met and greeted actors like Jason Mamoa, Ray Fisher and Ben Affleck. All actors are recently best known for playing superheroes in the movie “Justice League.”
Among the fans who attended Saturday’s activties was Kimberly Cardenas of Corpus Christi. She met Fisher and learned what it was like playing Cyborg and using CGI to develop his character on screen.

“We’ve done our films (in Corpus Christi) and we have this underground film festival,” Cardenas said. “I think what I get back from it is the whole CGI thing and what more we can do and how more new things keep coming out and we got to stay up with the times.”
This was the first Celebrity Fanfest and it was sponsored by local attorney Thomas J. Henry.

Organizers are considering expanding the event in the future, said Bob Wills, the CEO of PMX Events.
“Next year it’s going to be three to four times (bigger) and probably in a much larger convention (hall),” Wills said. “Something where we can have it for three to four days versus two days.”
