CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — An informational meeting is being held tonight to clear the air about a proposed subdivision in the London ISD area.

Concerned citizens will meet at 7 p.m. tonight at Fuddruckers, 1949 S. Padre Island Drive to discuss the proposal.

People who live in the area aren't too happy about the project.

They say they don't want a large subdivision to be built right near London ISD.

A local home building company wants to transform land near FM 43 into a development of more than 1,400 homes.

This land is right next to London ISD.

But residents say traffic is already a problem there. They are also concerned that more development would make it worse.

They also worry the value of their homes will go down.

The developer says that won't be the case and that the project would allow for more affordable homes in the area.

“We want to give the whole city of Corpus Christi an opportunity to live in the London area. Over the years, I've heard through customers,

'I can't get there, I can't afford it.' this is going to give people an opportunity to have that opportunity.” said Moses Mostaghasi, of MPM Homes.

In a recent zoning commission meeting, the committee voted against the zoning request.

The City Council is expected to vote on this request next Tuesday.
