PORT ARANSAS, Texas — While nobody was hurt yesterday when an LNG tanker narrowly missed hitting the Port Aransas ferry landing, some believe the incident illustrates their concerns about building an export terminal on Harbor Island.

The Port Aransas Conservancy opposes a Harbor Island export terminal because they're concerned about environmental impacts, especially if there's an accident.

Port of Corpus Christi officials have tried to calm their fears. Yesterday's near miss shows accidents can happen, and if one does, the impact on Port Aransas could be devastating.

Officials say the port is doing everything it can to make sure an accident doesn't happen.
