Overnight fire rips though Island home

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A service dog was killed when a fire ripped through a home on the Island early Tuesday morning.

It happened at a home in the 13000 block of Royal Fifth Court around 3 a.m.

According to fire officials, the fire started in the garage and made it way to the front.

However, firefighters were able to contain the fire to the garage.

One person was in the home at the time, he made it out safely and unharmed.

Sadly, his service dog was killed.

There were two trucks parked near the garage, one of them was burned.

Fire officials are trying to determine how the fire started.
