CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Among the items on today's city council agenda is an ordinance approving more than $1 million for the police department to buy new video systems for its vehicles.

That's just one of the items being watched today.

The police department wants to buy 180 video systems at a price tag of about $1.5 million.

These new systems will replace the dashcam systems already in CCPD vehicles which have been used since 2012.

According to CCPD, those outdated camera systems are failing.

But will new technology mean more dashcam video releases from the department?

That's one of the questions for CCPD.

See what they have to say tonight on KRIS 6 News.
