NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana — Residents in New Orleans are preparing for a possible hurricane as Tropical Storm Sally builds in strength in the Gulf of Mexico.
Winds are strong in “The Big Easy” today, although the slow-moving storm is still far away.
People are filling sandbags to protect their homes from flooding.
Many are saying Hurricane Katrina, which devastated the area 15 years ago, remains fresh in their minds.
Forecasters say Sally could come ashore in Louisiana early Tuesday as a Category 2 hurricane.
