Gyms battle back against COVID concerns

Gyms battle back during pandemic

Gyms are battling against the belief they are a big threat to spread the coronavirus.

Gym owners argue they have been lumped in with restaurants and bars when it comes to risk.

They say gym-goers can more easily socially distance than people huddled at a table inside a bar.

Scientists say it appears surface spread, such as a pair of dumbbells of the coronavirus is not as much of a concern as droplets and particles in the air.

But the cost of safety in the pandemic isn't cheap for gym owners.

Many stopped operating 24 hours and most keep half of their cardio equipment off limits for proper social distancing.
