If you had a jury summons for Monday, you can ignore it.
All jury trials scheduled for next week at the Nueces County Courthouse have been canceled.
The decision was made Friday by the Board of Judges, and it's in response to guidance from the CDC about reducing of large crowds.
Although jury trials have been canceled, other court business will continue as normal next week.
"Don't be afraid to come to the courthouse, just -- we are just trying to eliminate any impact this virus will have in our community by avoiding the large crowds and large gatherings," said 28th District Court Judge Nanette Hasette.
Individual courts will also try to cancel, or reduce, the number of hearings on their dockets.
And the Board of Judges will meet again next week to discuss using video conferencing for inmates so they don't have to be taken to court for their hearings.
