CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS — UPDATE 5/29/20: The driver of a vehicle that landed in an apartment swimming pool explains to KRIS 6 News that her vehicle hydroplaned.

Jessica Davis was the sole person in the crash that she says happened between 2:35 am and 2:40 am early Monday morning. She tells KRIS 6 News she was turning into her parking spot at the Kingston Port Apartments when her vehicle hydroplaned. To avoid crashing into vehicles parked on either side, she tried controlling her car but instead skidded up on the curb, through nearby bushes and a gate eventually landing into the swimming pool.

Davis added that her car landed sideways; the driver side in the 6 foot deep water. The electrical system began failing but she eventually managed to roll down the window allowing her to exit the car.

Davis says she suffered severe whiplash but is grateful her injuries weren't worse.
