ROCKPORT, Texas — Wounded combat veterans made their way to Rockport today.
They are there to take part in the seventh annual Heroes Cup fishing tournament.
About 30 veterans took part in a procession that started in Ingleside and then made it’s way here to Aransas Pass where they visited students at Charlie Marshall Elementary and Sacred Heart Elementary.
Their journey ended in Rockport, where they will be taking part in a fishing retreat.
The goal is simple: to honor these veterans for their service.
“It's just a reminder to them that they have not been forgotten and we appreciate their service and sacrifice,” said Ron Kocian, president of Warriors Weekend.
The veterans will get to fish for fun tomorrow with the tournament taking place on Friday.
