PORT ARANSAS, Texas — Tx-DOT has kicked off a $9 million project at the Port Aransas Ferry Crossing.
Signs have been set up on the Harbor Island side informing drivers about the upcoming construction.
The project includes a new area, called stacking lanes, for traffic to sit while waiting to board the ferries.
The lanes will hold about 250 vehicles.
The project will also include park and ride facilities.
Work is expected to take about a year and a half to complete.
