The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled against a Corpus Christi attorney in a case involving the death of a teenager from Mexico who was shot by a Border Patrol agent.

Bob Hilliard represents the family of 15-year old Sergio Hernandez.

And today, the Supreme Court ruled that his family cannot sue the Border Patrol agent who shot their son.

The incident happened in 2010 when Border Patrol agents in El Paso tried to stop a group of people trying to cross the border illegally.

People on the Mexican side of the border started throwing rocks and that's when Agent Jesus Mesa, Jr. fired at them and hit Hernandez.

The United States refused to extradite the agent.

So the Hernandez family sued, but the case was dismissed in the lower courts.

And that ruling was upheld today.
