CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A local pre-schooler is on a mission to help the city's homeless.

Isla Loeb wants to collect toothbrushes, toothpaste and dental floss for them.

The idea came to her Sunday when she asked her mother if poor people had toothbrushes.

When her mom, Heather Loeb, told her they didn't, Isla emptied out her can of change to get a collection drive going.

Isla's mom is helping her by posting an appeal from the youngster on Facebook.

It's a big impact.

So far, more than 400 toothbrushes have been collected.

Isla's mom says her daughter is performing a Mitzvah.

In the Jewish faith, a Mitzvah is a good deed.

"And for us as Jewish people it is important for us to, well it's a moral responsibility for us to take care of others," Heahter Loeb said. "She is already showing herself and that she can do that and she, she's an active participant in our community and I'm really proud of her."

If you want to help out Isla's drive, you can drop off donations at the Jewish Community Center at 750 Everhart Road.

Everything that's collected will be donated to Metro Ministries next week.
