Port Aransas businesses optimistic for busy Spring Break

Spring Break is almost here, which means crowds will soon be flocking to the beach. In the Port Aransas area, which is 2 1/2 years removed from Hurricane Harvey, they are hoping this year will be a banner year for business.

Business owners we spoke with today said they are prepared for what they are hoping will be big Spring Break crowds.

Kimberly Winton, who owns Winton Island Candy Company, said her store suffered major flooding when Harvey hit.

Family members and friends worked very hard to get the doors back open for customers.

With the beginning of Spring Break just a couple of days away -- and the possiblity of an influx of families, college students, and out-of-towners -- has Winston feeling optimistic.

"Very blessed," Winton said. "We look forward to seeing our exciting customers, we look forward meeting new customers, and just seeing everyone's smiling faces when they come in and get candy."

Port A business hope a successful Spring Break will be a springboard to a busy summer season for the area.
