SAN PATRICIO, TEXAS — There are more than a several dozen pinwheels on display over at the Portland Public library.
There are 170 pinwheels to be exact.
Each represents a victim of child abuse from last year in San Patricio county.
The county's welfare board hopes the pinwheels will serve as a reminder to speak up for a child.
Lindsay Torno, with the San Patricio County welfare board, said, "When people drive by and see these pinwheels we hope its raising awareness. That if they see something to call. Not to get someone in trouble, but to call because you care for that child."
April is child abuse awareness month.
The San Patricio county welfare board provides assistance to area families who need it.
