ODEM, Texas — With this weekend's live game taking place in Odem, we decided to get a closer look at that community for this week’s Hometown Pride feature.

Nestled just northwest of Corpus Christi, you’ll find the city of Odem.

"Odem's just a great small community,” said resident Julianne Bridges. “The schools are great, the restaurants are great, lots of little shops and things to do here and there. It's just a really great community."

One of the locals’ favorite parts of Odem is this park where they can bring their kids to play, it has a place to grill, and even a space to work out.

This town is a tight-knit community who really look after one another.

And the most popular spot in all of Odem: Railroad Seafood Station.

This restaurant is the staple of Odem, and is many friends and families’ go-to spot in town.

"My parents, my sister and my brother, we've all been involved in the business," said The Railroad’s manager Nathan Hinojosa.

Railroad Seafood Station has been family-owned and operated for the past 15 years. They're famous for their family-style seafood.

Naturally, a favorite past time in the city is football.

"The biggest form of entertainment in this town is Friday Night Lights in Odem -- Owl Football -- so we really enjoy going to those games and supporting the local team," Hinojosa said.

Because in Odem, pride is the name of the game.

"There's a lot of school pride, just a lot of pride in the businesses, everyone is very united and work-oriented and family-oriented," Bridges said.
