CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The proposed North Beach Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone or TIRZ has been a hot topic lately. However, residents there have actually been pushing for one for years.

After yesterday's joint city council-county commission workshop, it seems like a North Beach TIRZ is just days from passing.
City and county leaders agreed. A TIRZ is needed to spark development on North Beach. But what do the people who live and work there think?
The North Beach Community Association has made a TIRZ its number two priority for years, right behind fixing the drainage.
