CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — An update on the ExxonMobil construction site near Portland was presented today to the South Padre Business Association.
“We've received our main site air permit and our waste water and industrial permit and so we're really making some good progress,” said Jared Young, public and government affairs manager of Gulf Coast Growth Ventures.
The petrochemical plant will produce two main products that are used in the manufacturing of clothing, plastic bottles, building materials, plus a number of other products.
The project will create nearly 6,000 construction jobs as well as 600 permanent jobs in the Coastal Bend region.
It’s all expected to be completed by 2022.
